We are looking for a General Counsel in Barcelona/Toulouse


About the role:

We are looking for a General Counsel / In-House Attorney to establish and lead our legal function at Pangea Aerospace. This is a unique opportunity to be the first legal hire in a fast-growing aerospace startup, shaping the legal and compliance framework from the ground up.


As the first member of our legal team, you will play a key strategic role, ensuring that Pangea operates within the law while supporting various departments, from commercial and procurement to regulatory compliance. You will work closely with leadership to provide expert legal counsel, mitigate risks, and navigate the complex legal landscape of the space industry.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Establish and lead the legal function at Pangea Aerospace, ensuring the company operates within all applicable laws and regulations.
  • Provide strategic legal guidance to the executive team, business development, and other key stakeholders on corporate, commercial, labor, and regulatory matters.
  • Monitor and interpret legislative and regulatory developments in Spain, France, and other relevant jurisdictions, ensuring compliance with applicable laws.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with clients, suppliers, and partners, supporting commercial and procurement teams in structuring agreements.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and coordinate legal matters related to corporate governance, intellectual property, and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement internal policies to safeguard the company’s legal interests, ensuring best practices in risk management and corporate governance.
  • Support compliance efforts, including data protection, export control, and industry-specific regulations in aerospace and defense.
  • Maintain legal documentation and records, ensuring efficient organization and accessibility for relevant teams.
  • Develop the legal framework and contracts for Pangea's business model, ensuring alignment with industry standards
  • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts with both clients and suppliers.

What you need to be successful:

  • A Law degree with strong expertise in corporate, commercial, and regulatory law.
  • Proven experience in a similar role, ideally as a General Counsel, Head of Legal, or Senior Legal Counsel in an in-house setting.
  • Fluency in English and Spanish or French (professional level) to navigate legal matters across jurisdictions.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of corporate, commercial, labor, and compliance laws in either Spain or France (preferably both).
  • Experience working in highly regulated industries such as Aerospace, Aeronautics, or Defense is a strong advantage.
  • Ability to work independently, take ownership, and build the legal function from the ground up.
