We are looking for an In-Space Propulsion Engineer in Barcelona.


About the job:

Within the propulsion department, you will play a major role in the development of Pangea Aerospace’s in-space propulsion systems, responsible for the design of thrusters. This includes:


  • Support the development of in-space HTP monopropellant thruster, from phase B to phase D.
  • Support the development of in-space HTP bipropellant thruster, from phase B to phase D.
  • Preliminary sizing of mono- and bipropellant thrusters for in-space use
  • Analysis of propulsion system and subcomponents (performance, heat transfer, stresses, etc.)
  • Support the preparation, execution and results evaluation of hot-fire test campaign
  • Code development, maintenance, version control, and documentation
  • Harmonization of in-space propulsion code with cryogenic engine sizing code
  • Documentation of best practices in the design of in-space propulsion systems


What you need to be successful:

  • Working experience on spacecraft propulsion systems
  • Understanding of Heat transfer principles
  • Understanding of fluid dynamics principles
  • Deep understanding of the working principles of satellite chemical propulsion
  • Capability to perform thruster sizing at preliminary and detailed level
  • Experience in mathematical modeling (MATLAB, Python, Excel, etc.)
  • Passion, curiosity and eagerness to learn
  • Being able to have a global picture and at the same time attention to details
  • Accountability and product ownership
  • Strong communication skills
  • Fluency in the English language



Other desired competencies:

  • Previous testing experience
  • Previous working experience on chemical propulsion technology
  • Previous working experience on HTP propulsion technology
  • Experience in film-cooling technology design and modeling
  • Experience in manufacturing cycles management for additive manufacturing
  • Understanding of systems engineering processes
