We are looking for an Senior In-Space Propulsion Systems Engineer in Barcelona.

About the job:

In the Systems Department you will take the role as senior systems engineer and product manager for the UNYX chemical in-space propulsion product family. You would be involved in the full range of projects within the field of in-space propulsion, and your role would involve having a holistic oversight of the development of Pangea’s in-space propulsion family. This would involve finding synergies between projects and, together with your colleagues, coordinating their efforts to achieve commercially successful and strategic products/systems as efficiently as possible.

You should have plenty of experience working with in-space propulsion from previous positions, and be able to offer contacts, strategic insights, and deep experience and know-how to guide the team and the development.

You should offer insights into the in-space propulsion market, and you would be able to assess the strategic importance and value of Pangea’s in-space propulsion line, and how it can match with the general European (and international) in-space propulsion

market and steer the product family when needed to better match Pangea’s objectives and the market.

You should also have deep insight into the later stages, i.e. phase C & D, of product development and realization, including qualification, safety assessments, risk assessments, flight acceptance, industrialization, in-orbit demonstration, etc.

You should also have a good understanding of the relevant technology, including understanding the different advantages and disadvantages of various options (e.g. propellant combinations, concepts of operations, system architectures, materials, etc.), limitations of said technology, potential issues or showstoppers, etc.

This is considered a high-level and senior position at Pangea, and you should therefore be fully comfortable leading, working independently, and taking independent decisions, knowing that your knowledge would be in many cases be the main referent at Pangea.

You will work closely together with your colleagues in the systems department and also with the technical coordinator of the company, the project manager for the UNYX project, as well as the commercial department and the company management. You will also be expected to interface and work together with applicable external partners, national government agencies, as well as the European Space Agency.

What you need to be successful:

  • Master’s degree in aerospace engineering or related field
  • 3-5 years or more experience of systems engineering or product management for satellites (with a focus on propulsion), in-space propulsion / rocket propulsion, or a related field
  • Deep understanding of qualification and production of space products, with applicable know-how
  • Well-rounded understanding of the relevant disciplines in the field of in-space propulsion
  • A drive to bring the system to market
  • Independent decision-making skills

  • Capable of working in a flexible and open-minded environment
  • Start-up mindset.
  • Creative and with experience in overcoming failure.
