About Pangea Aerospace:

We are a company dedicated to developing advanced propulsion systems for the space industry based on three key principles: high efficiency, sustainability, and reusability. We are revolutionizing the space industry with ground-breaking innovations that allow us to offer the best performance to cost propulsion systems.

Our goal is to be the propulsion provider for the next generation of spacecraft, which are essential to meet the demands and compete in the booming space market of the next decade.

We are a passionate, multicultural, and multidisciplinary team pushing the boundaries of what it is possible in space propulsion technology.

We have already made history by successfully testing the world's first 3D-printed Methalox Aerospike engine, marking a significant milestone for the space industry.

We are looking for talented professionals to join our international team in Barcelona and Toulouse. We want to be a key player in improving diversity in the Aerospace sector as, in Pangea, we believe that diversity (gender, age, race, sexual orientation, beliefs, disability, culture, etc.) is a key to success. Within Pangea, everyone can grow with the same opportunities. We encourage you to apply. Individually we are different, but together we are an amazing team!

We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer position in Toulouse:

About your role:

As a Senior Mechanical Designer in our Mechanical department, you will play a pivotal role in advancing Pangea Aerospace's propulsion systems. Your primary responsibility will be the mechanical design of rocket engines, encompassing the entire process from conceptualization to detailed design.

You will work closely with propulsion engineers to translate their needs into tangible designs and collaborate with structural analysts to optimize these designs based on feedback. Your role will also involve designing and optimizing the propulsion system layout and components, integrating the propulsion system within the rocket, and ensuring all designs are production-ready with accurate technical documentation.

This position requires a robust understanding of mechanical design principles and a strong knowledge of liquid propulsion systems. You will liaise with suppliers and machine shops, necessitating proficiency in GD&T and manufacturing processes.

Your challenges and responsibilities:

  • Design and optimization of the propulsion system layout and components
  • Integration of the propulsion system within the overall rocket layout
  • Execution of the mechanical design from conceptual to detailed stages, including GD&T and technical drawings
  • Release of the technical documentation for production

What you need to be successful:

  • BSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design
  • Proficiency with CAD software, preferably Siemens NX
  • Experience managing large and complex assemblies
  • Proficiency with GD&T
  • Strong understanding of load/stress analysis and solid mechanics
  • Ability to read and interpret P&ID’s
  • Experience in preparing technical documentation, drawings, and presentations for stakeholders
  • Fluent in English and French

Additional desirable skills:

  • MSc in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering field
  • Knowledge of chemical propulsion systems
  • Experience with design for Additive Manufacturing and for post-processing
  • Familiarity with PLM tools, preferably Teamcenter
  • Competence in FEM for structural and thermal analysis

Not hitting every requirement? Research suggests that some people tend to hesitate when it comes to job applications if they don't meet all the desired qualifications. Here at Pangea Aerospace, we're committed to fostering a workplace that values diversity, inclusivity, and authenticity. So, if you're enthusiastic about this role but your prior experience doesn't align perfectly with every qualification mentioned in the job description, we still strongly encourage you to apply.
