We are looking for an Senior Testing Engineer in Barcelona.


About the role:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Test Engineer specializing in Liquid propellant (cryogenic and storable) rocket engine testing to join our test team in Barcelona. The successful candidate will leverage the development of testing facilities in Pangea. This role is crucial in enhancing the capability of Pangea to test its cryogenic engines and be a reference in the industry for designing, manufacturing and testing aerospace engines. You will work with internal and external stakeholders. You will play a pivotal role in ensuring the successful planning, execution, and documentation of engine tests, as well as maintaining the operational readiness of the test facilities

You will work closely with your colleagues in the Systems Department and with the Technical Coordinator of the company and the Project Manager for the ARCOS project, as well as with the Propulsion and Mechanical Departments.

You will be working with all departments and disciplines within Pangea at some point, to maintain a holistic view of the testing activity. You will be expected to interface and work together with applicable external partners, national government agencies, as well as the European Space Agency.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage and mentor a team of engineers and technicians involved in testing and facility operations.
  • Act as the primary interface between the test operations team and other internal/external stakeholders.
  • Oversee the operation and maintenance of test facilities to ensure their readiness and compliance with safety and quality standards.
  • Implement and maintain preventive maintenance programs for facility equipment and infrastructure.
  • Lead the end-to-end process of liquid rocket engine testing, including planning, preparation, execution, and post-test analysis.
  • Supervise the development and implementation of test procedures and safety protocols.
  • Prepare detailed test plans, schedules, and reports to ensure transparency and alignment with project goals.
  • Define test objectives, parameters, and success criteria in collaboration with design and analysis teams.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to upgrade or modify test facilities as required for specific test campaigns.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, regulations, and internal policies.


What you need to be successful:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience working with hardware-based aerospace projects and with standards such as e.g. ECSS is expected.
  • Proven expertise in managing complex testing campaigns and operating test facilities.
  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
  • Excellent problem-solving, analytical, and organizational abilities.
  • Knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance for test facilities.
  • Solid understanding of safety practices and regulations in high-pressure testing environments.
  • Deep experience and understanding of rocket engines are also highly meritorious.
  • Working with large teams and taking independent initiatives to e.g. gather necessary input from internal and external colleagues, initiate needed activities or analyses, and to move the overall project forward towards completion
  • Proficiency in data acquisition systems, instrumentation, and control systems.
  • Hands-on experience with liquid rocket propulsion systems.


Other useful skills:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, being able to communicate not to only technical entities.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to evolving project requirements.
  • Fluent in English; proficiency in Spanish and French is a plus.
